Darling Auntie Gladys, even when it took more and more effort she regularly flew to Italy to visit the family over there.
And once on the way there she made a stopover in the Netherlands, to be my guest for a week in the quaint wooden house in Zaandam. As the staircase to the first floor was impossible for her to manage she slept in the downstairs spare room and had to wash at the kitchensink. She couldn’t stop laughing for the silliness of it.
Friends of mine drove us around the area that week and they were ever so impressed: she took everything gracefully in her stride and made everyone feel at ease.
Our visit to the museum at the Zaanse Schans was a great success: as she enjoyed the windmills we all enjoyed her company immensely.
She will be very much missed and remembered very fondly
